Cat and kitten care for Birmans is essentially the same as for all longhaired cats. A long discussion on this subject is beyond the scope of this page, but a few tips on feeding, grooming and vaccinations seem appropriate.
DON'T GIVE YOUR BIRMAN CAT FOOD FROM THE FRIDGE
Cats and kittens should be fed a good quality cat food at room temperature, not human food or cat food cold from the fridge.
ALWAYS HAVE WATER AVAILABLE. NEVER GIVE YOUR BIRMAN MILK TO DRINK

DO GIVE YOUR BIRMAN AN OCCASIONAL BATH

A metal cat comb, and a cat brush should be used to groom the cat on a regular basis, and an occasional bath using a good quality cat shampoo is recommended.
DO PROVIDE A SCRATCHING POST

Birman cats are gentle and not suited to the rigours of outdoor life, unless in a secure garden environment, so one or more scratching posts or cat trees should be provided indoors. Some Birmans happily wear a harness, and can be taken into the garden for some sunshine.
DO PROVIDE ENTERTAINMENT FOR YOUR BIRMAN
Birman cats are very curious and sociable. Do give them plenty of attention and play with them. They love ticklers, available from pet shops, and other cat toys.
